Black Beans & Laundry Detergent
So since I've been here we've been making a lot of Burritos at home. WHY? Who knows, we just have. Before we left Nashville we fell in love with this place called Swanky's Taco Shop, maybe that's why? ( I miss you Swankys! ) So that being said I've been trying to find Black Beans. It has not been an easy task.
Yesterday, I took the 20 minute walk to the glorious 3 story Whole Foods for 2 reasons: 1) Must find black beans and 2) must find laundry detergent that doesn't smell so strong that it burns my sensitive eyes.
So I'm looking in the "cultural foods" aisle and I can not find black beans. So then I decided they must be here and just under a different name - this has been a common theme - so I start reading the labels on the shelf and sure enough I find "black beans" I look up to read the can label and it reads "ADUKI BEANS" - You can imagine that this made me laugh out loud.
So I get 2 cans of these ADUKI (uh-doo-key) beans (INSERT LAUGHTER) and head to the register with my tiny $12 somewhat unscented laundry detergent.
On a side note the brand Ole El Paso is everywhere here. We decide last night to make taco's instead of burritos. So Mike is cooking the meat and it doesnt really smell like the Ole El Paso smell I know from home, but I am not home so I deal with it... Once I opened the Aduki Beans I quickly realized that these were NOT the black beans I get at home. They are instead what a black bean would look like if it had a baby with a kidney bean and it was born premature.
I eat it, knowing there is something a little off about it and then Mike says it "DID YOU REALIZE THAT THERE WAS CURRY IN THAT"? I said yep, as I was finishing my plate. And I'm not a big fan of curry, mostly because I have a delicate stomach and that just isn't a delicate kind of flavor. So within the hour I was nauseous.
So stay tuned for what I post next... it just may be about a Wonder Waffle and Christmas Lights.... oh yeah and I know I still owe you some more pictures of the flat...I have to take those when the place isnt a wreck.
Cheers,
Wmmc
