By early I mean before 830am. I took a few girls around the city the other day and they thought I was crazy when I said meet me at 7AM (ouch), but they did get some terrific pictures because of it!

Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace at 8am. If you don't want people in your pictures. Go EARLY.
