Copenhagen, Denmark

I'm going to try to wrap up Copenhagen in this post... we will see if that actually happens...

Copenhagen turned out to be a lot cooler (as in "hip" not temperature) than we had originally thought it'd be.  We arrived at our hotel, the Scandic Front, and were upgraded (complimentary) to a room with a huge terrace overlooking the water! Score! (Room 606)

Room 606 terrace... that's the Opera house in the distance with the blue top

We stayed in the Nyhavn area which is made up of a string of pastel-colored cafes, restaurants, and bars that are intersperses with fetching gabled houses on the banks of the city's canals.  Hans Christian Anderson lived here during several periods of his life.

Nyhavn
Another part of the city is Christiana... a dirty little area that lives as its own country away from taxes, rules and in some cases a shower (from the looks of it)... but one thing they are not short on is pot and hash.  When you walk through there is a little area where you can just stop at kiosk and buy what you wish.  No pictures are allowed inside this area. And no we did not make any purchases.

Carlsberg Brewery is also located in Copenhagen, but we did not visit...just did a drive by...

A big attraction is Tivoli, which is a theme park and garden.  It looked and sounded fun, but we decided for the low low price of $60 per person that we'd pass.

Not far from our hotel was Stroget it is one of the world's longest pedestrianized streets full of cafes, clothing shops, and a cool department store called Illum.  Did we buy anything?  I did cave and buy some Essie nail polish at Magasin only because I haven't been able to find the color that I wanted in London.  Copenhagen is SOOOOOOO expensive.  No shopping for us.  I honestly don't know how people afford to live there.

Another great food find was a place called MASH, an American Steakhouse.  We LOVED it.  I had a filet and mac n cheese and Mike had the Canadian Strip with tomato salad.  We were both in heaven it was so good.  I gave my steak a 9.5 out of 10, it was SOO good!

I like a place that's not afraid to put their name on their knives
another little area they call "Little Amsterdam"

I spotted some BEAUTIFUL muffins

This is one popular little mermaid
Do I recommend Copenhagen for a weekend getaway? Most definitely!
