German Food

While in Berlin we did our best to try their beverages and food. Yes, even a picky eater like me. Although, for those of you that haven't eaten with me in quite some time, you'd be surprised what I eat these days...

Mike had 3 kinds of meat, stinky sauerkraut, and boiled potatoes. I tried one of the meats and oh my was it delicious, just like a christmas ham type delicious.

I order (Mikes suggestion) Cheesy Spaetzle.

Spaetzle with cheese and onions. You could tell the pasta/noodle type thing was homemade. I had a problem with them looking like magets/larva. It was good though. BUT OH SO HEAVY.  Especially since I was chasing it with a Guinness. Yes I know Guinness is not German, but it is delicious.

My first german pretzel in Germany. Oh so tasty!

Our dinner at a local family owned German place called Leibniz-Klause (www.leibniz-klause.de

It was delicious. I gotta admit when they put the plate in front of me I was like I dont think I'm going to eat this. However, I tasted it and was simply amazed at how delicious it was. The gravy was think like chocolate, but delicious. It was rice, chicken, mushrooms, peas, white asparagus, in this gravy stuff.

Mike had some weird pale colored meatballs and boiled potatoes and loved it. We chased it with tasty German beer.

We decided after all these heavy meals we needed to detox. So for the last week we've been on a veggie and fruit only detox.  I've eaten more v&f this week than I have my whole life.

Anywho.... I've recovered from my back pain and now my cold... so hopefully I will have more energy to write better blogs in the near future... The cold meds and the pain meds are hard to write through...

Cheers,
WMMc
