The Chestnut Centre: OTTERS!!!

The Chestnut Centre: OTTERS!!!

Since I was sick the entire trip hiking was out of the question.  While everyone was hiking 10 miles and getting burned by the sun Mike and I took it easy and went to the Chestnut Centre which is an otter, owl and wild life park (over 50 acres).  A hidden gem in a hidden valley...  We entered the gate and immediately spotted a group of deer!
Fallow and Sika deer
We kept walking and later ran into a variety of owls. The tawny owl, the snowy owl (my favorite (even though I dont like birds) and many others...  We were there to see Otters so I didn't spend much time looking at the owls...

The giant otters were napping so no sighting. Total bummer!  We did see the Asian short claw otter, the Eurasian otter and the North American river otter though.

Otters
It took us about 2 hours to walk through the Chestnut Center and we loved every minute of it.  It was a great set up, much better than we thought it would be.  I highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
