House only: adult £6.25 (£5.60), child £3.15 (£2.85). Estate Entry per vehicle £5 Lyme Park and Lyme Hall was our last stop on the Peak District trip and what a lovely last stop it was! I still felt like crap and nearly went home early, but the thought of missing the house bothered me more than my sickness, after all I'm a fan of Pride and Prejudice what can I say... and I'll probably never go back to the Peak District... so I went!
If you didn't know.... its wild remoteness and powerful beauty contrast with one of the most famous country-house images in England – the backdrop to where Darcy meets Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice. Its also one of the Top 10 Stately Homes in England...
The house (the largest one in Cheshire) and grounds were beautiful and I nearly felt under dressed to even be there. It was a lot of fun!
The estate was granted to Sir Thomas Danyers in 1346 and passed to the Leghs of Lyme by marriage in 1388. It remained in the possession of the Legh family until 1946 when it was given to the National Trust.
