No I'm not talking about the 1986 movie with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore... I'm talking about my fabulous and funny night last night...
Yesterday, I woke up and headed to my spray tan appointment at Purity Spa (I really like the staff there... super nice and professional)... After wards, I went home and took care of a few domestic responsibilities and then later in the evening I headed to Marks Bar on Brewer (in Soho) to have some drinks with a few girlfriends. I found out about Marks Bar through GOOP (Gweneth Paltrow's blog) and have had it on my "to go there" list for months... I finally went last night.
I REALLY like this place. It's hidden so that quickly eliminates the "walker by and stop in" traffic. When you enter you immediately feel like "this place is cozy, I like it"... That is if you can get a spot to sit down... show up past 630pm and the odds of that are slim.
It took some sweet talking to an older gentlemen for my crew to get a table. (I politely asked him in the sweetest southern accent that I could muster up if he'd let me know when they were leaving so we could have their table) The bar only allows so many people to stand and I'm actually glad they have that rule because if everyone was standing it would take away from the cozy decor. They are so strict that my friends showed up and had I not already been inside the bar they were going to be turned away because they were already at capacity.
Do they serve food? Yes, their bar snacks are very tasty! We ordered a couple orders of their sweetcorn fritters, chips, and croquettes. All were very tasty!
They have an extensive cocktail list, special brewed beers, ciders, and of course wines and champagne. My crew all went with Sauvignon Blanc.
At 11:20pm and only 2 of the 4 girls left standing, I mean sitting, I looked at my watch and holy crap its 1120pm! how did that happen?! Time flew by. So me and Colleen said our good-byes and hopped on the tube and I Bus 94....
I always have my iPod on when riding the bus. Trust me, it's a must. I got off the bus... was jammin' on the walk home and didn't realize that the sidewalk was uneven. That is, until the "uneven sidewalk" sign broke MY FALL! Yes, I fell down. Face first. Go ahead laugh all you want. About a half dozen people came to my rescue. I was embarrassed and thankful all at the same time. I quickly said, I was ok and that apparently I just wasn't paying attention and hobbled home as fast as I could.
I woke up this morning and my knee was killing me. I thought, why in the world does my knee hurt so bad? OHhhhhh yeahhhhh.... I fell on it last night.
So now I get to take my spray tanned self, my sore knee and hobble all over Nice... yes oh yes the McCooey's are headed to the South of France for the weekend :)
We had to fly separately on the way there, but that's a story for another day... I better get off here and pack.
Cheers and stay safe on uneven sidewalks this weekend!
LOVE Mark's Bar - it's one of my splurgey standards! The bartenders are so knowledgable AND they'll teach you to play bar billiards if you ask nicely :)
