24 years ago a little band from Buffalo, as in New York formed and called themselves "Goo Goo Dolls". John, Robby and Mike will release their 9th Album on August 30 and will start their UK tour in November.
I'm on a ton of "music happenings" email list so when I got the email yesterday through O2 that I could buy Priority Tickets for their Brixton show on November 13 I jumped at the chance. For a few reasons actually... obviously because I like their music (John Rzeznik voice), another because they are from Buffalo and when Mike and I first started dating we were talking music and he was telling me that they were from Buffalo and he paused and said "as in New York" as if this girl from Nashville/TN.Ridge, TN didn't already know that (gotta love it when that happens). When I think of that story it reminds me of how new our relationship was and how funny I thought it was that he thought he needed to explain to me where Buffalo was. I'm sure most would have been offended, but I would have probably done the same thing... I think its cute...I've held on to that little funny for all this time. Oh yeah, of course I dig at him for it from time to time...
When we go visit his family in Buffalo, there is a spot in the airport where they continuously play the Goo Goo Dolls song "Slide" and Mike and I just look at each other and smile when we walk through it.
Some of the best parts of life sometimes are those little moments, the ones that make you smile... so last night when Mike got home I showed him his surprise (the tickets) and he grinned from ear to ear.
So on Saturday November 13 in our new foreign country we will sing favorites like: Slide, Long Way Down, Better Days, Black Balloon, Before Its Too Late, Name, Here is Gone, their new single "Home," and of course a little song from the movie, "City of Angels", Iris (you may of heard it once or twice?)
So if you are interested in going get your tickets now!
Next blog will be about my tour of a cooking school... However, it may be a couple days before that posts because I'm heading to Edinburgh, tomorrow...
Cheers,
WMMc
